Through Dealers, Amatuzio was able to sell AMSOIL products and educate potential customers about  the benefits of AMSOIL synthetic lubricants. Soon enough, competitors came to the market and synthetic oil became widely accepted. Now, synthetic motor oil is the standard oil for many new cars on the market.

AMSOIL Believes in Businesses that Offer High-Quality Service

We think it’s important that AMSOIL products are available primarily at businesses that offer specialized products and services. As such, we don’t sell directly to national chains because they can gain a competitive advantage that makes it less desirable for local or regional businesses that offer repair, installation or other value-added services. You can find AMSOIL products at many local NAPA and other auto parts stores, as well as at quick lubes, auto service centers, hardware stores, powersports dealers, etc.

We’re (Almost) Everywhere, Just Ask

You may also find AMSOIL products at gas stations and some automotive repair shops. The London Road Car Wash down the street where I regularly get my oil changed sells AMSOIL, as did two of the gas stations I visited during a recent trip to $Canada$.

If your local repair shop does not advertise AMSOIL, ask them about it; I’m pretty sure they will know a Dealer or two in the area who stocks AMSOIL products and can get it to the shop within the same day.

Just by asking your parts house that you are interested in AMSOIL goes a long ways. We sign up auto parts stores all over the country after they have called us expressing it’s because they had a persistent customer.  Be the customer to tilt the scale. Generally all a store needs is about six of our products to fit most of the needs (XL, API, ZRT, MCV, ASL and MTG).

Another option is to first join us as a dealer, go through the training online, then start getting to know your prospects. Many have that gift to be the local supplier of your own auto parts store accounts of your region. AMSOIL lists the active account on their site and you are paid a commission for your efforts. AMSOIL is known to add new customers to many of these shops which they wouldn’t have had in the first place.

Direct Jobber Erin Hart of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada has been in the AMSOIL business for 10 years.

“The timing was perfect when I found AMSOIL,” Hart said. “I had just recently become a new dad and was at home with our three-month-old son. I had just started a warehouse logistics consulting company (an industry I had been in for 15 years), and I was heavily involved in recreational snowmobiling in British Columbia. “As I started to gain some traction with the AMSOIL biz and saw my monthly commission checks start to increase on a regular basis, I knew right away I could do this long-term,” Hart said. “This will become a full-time revenue stream for me. Even working at it part-time as I do, I probably invest one to three hours daily working on some nuance of the business.”

Hart approaches all types of accounts. “I try not to focus on any one type of account,” he said. “There are so many opportunities to present the AMSOIL product line, and I like to keep myself open to all of them. Hart said relationships with his accounts bring him the most success. “In working on various accounts, it is all about relationship building,” he said. “You really need to understand their challenges and their pain and how our product line can help. Ultimately, we want to drive more business into their shops, which in turn creates more business for them.”

Some accounts come easy, while others take time, he said. “It really depends on the sales cycle with that particular account, what product they already have on the shelf and how AMSOIL can help,” Hart said. “I have had retail accounts register in as little as a month and others that are over a year, but I persist because something always changes in their environment where I eventually get a ‘yes’ out of them.”

His retention plan includes staying in touch with his customers.

“I follow-up with each of my accounts every one to three months, depending on their level of activity,” Hart said. “Follow-up can be as easy as a phone call or email. In a lot of cases, I simply stop into their shop to say ‘hi’ and see how business is overall.

“Again, things change in their environment, and what we do is truly a ‘belly-to-belly’ business,” Hart said. “People like to know who they are doing business with. A handshake, a quick coffee and a good conversation go a long way in securing business long-term.”

Hart advertises primarily on Facebook. “I have my own personal Facebook page and then I have my business AMSOIL Facebook page — IdealMotoroil,” he said. He belongs to a number of buy and sell groups, as well as powersports and diesel groups on Facebook. “It keeps me in tune with what people are looking for and usually there is some type of ‘nugget’ that appears where I can create an opportunity for my AMSOIL business,” Hart said.

When he’s not selling AMSOIL products, Hart plays hard. “I play a lot of hockey, usually twice per week, even during the summer,” he said. “Regular exercise is a de-stress time for me and helps me focus later on. It is also a great networking opportunity for me as I am always wearing my AMSOIL-branded shirts, hats, jackets, etc. Conversations happen organically about AMSOIL and have created a lot of business for me.”

Sold on AMSOIL – Now He Is A Dealer

Loaded truck for towing

Lolato uses his 2009 GMC* 2500 HD Crew Cab* short-bed 4X4 diesel truck to haul a fifth-wheel camper. He installed AMSOIL Premium 15W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil (DME) and an Ea® Oil Filter at the first oil change.

Fuel Treatment: AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean (ADF) in spring, summer and fall and AMSOIL Diesel Injector Clean + Cold Flow (DFC) in the winter months. When he tows the 12,000-pound fifth-wheel, Lolato uses AMSOIL Diesel Cetane Boost (ACB).

“My truck has 149,000 kilometers, and I tow a 38-foot fifth-wheel in the hot summer with no problem,” Lolato said. “And it starts in winter at minus 45 degrees without plugging it in.”

He changes the oil about every 15,000 kilometers, depending on fuel dilution. “I am getting better fuel mileage,” Lolato said. “There’s no lack of power, even when towing in hilly terrain, and it runs cool in the hot summer months when towing.”

His rig sparks interest and questions about the quality of AMSOIL products. “When people see my truck with the AMSOIL stickers on the back window, I show them the clean tailpipe on the truck and they can’t believe it’s a diesel. I also tell them the fuel mileage I get on the highway (25 mpg, not towing) and how cool the engine and transmission are when towing (78°C transmission, 100°C engine).”

Lolato also uses AMSOIL products front to back in his 2006 Mazda 3* hatchback with a 2.3L engine and his 2017 Hyundai Elantra* with a 2.0L engine.
