XL Synthetic Motor Oil maintains its fluidity (viscosity) under the most extreme conditions. Some oils break down and significantly increase in viscosity after extended periods of high-temperature operation. These changes can cause excessive oil consumption, engine deposits, accelerated wear and difficult cold-starts. The GM Oxidation and Deposit (GMOD) Test consists of a 5.7L V8 engine running at 293ºF (100º hotter than normal) for 100 hours. These severe operating conditions test an oils ability to control viscosity increase, deposits and oil consumption. The testing revealed that AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil provides 64 percent more protection against oil breakdown¹ than required by the GM dexos1® Gen 2 specification, ensuring protection in extreme temperatures.

LSPI is the spontaneous ignition of the fuel/air mixture prior to spark-triggered ignition. Most new engines feature gasoline direct-inject (GDI), often coupled with a turbocharger. COMPATIBILITY

AMSOIL Extended Life 5W-20 Synthetic Motor Oil is compatible with conventional and other synthetic motor oils. Mixing other oils with AMSOIL motor oils, however, will shorten the oil life expectancy and reduce the performance benefits. AMSOIL does not support extended drain intervals where oils have been mixed.

Aftermarket oil additives are not recommended for use with AMSOIL XL Synthetic Motor Oil.

SERVICE LIFE of Amsoil Extended Life

Normal Service – Up to 20,000 miles (32,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first, in personal vehicles not operating under severe service.

Severe Service – Up to 12,000 miles (20,000 km) or one year, whichever comes first. Severe service conditions include commercial or fleet vehicles; excessive idling; or frequent towing, hauling, plowing or driving in dusty conditions.

• Modified engines (non-stock), racing vehicles and vehicles using alternative fuels (E85, CNG, propane, etc.) are excluded from extended drain interval recommendations.
• Change at the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended drain interval outside U.S. and Canada.
• AMSOIL Oil Filters are designed for extended drain intervals. Do not exceed 12,000 miles (20,000 km) or one year with other brand filters unless longer intervals are recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Always change filter when changing oil.
• Check oil regularly to maintain proper fill levels. AMSOIL Oil Filters stop smaller particles, flow more oil and last longer than regular filters. For best performance, use AMSOIL Oil Filters

I was a little short on money this time around and my drain interval was about 11 months this past time and I only went a bit over 8k miles. So I decided to try the Extended Life motor oil rather than the Signature Series. I haven’t been running it long enough to form an excellent opinion on it, but hey…it’s AmsOil. What really needs to be said about it? But since I’ve owned the vehicle at around 93k miles and I’m up to almost 153k miles, the motor still runs literally like brand new and it’s only had two times when it didn’t get AmsOil, but rather Valvoline. But if you look at the price of store shelf bought oil, AmsOil really doesn’t cost much more these days when you’re a preferred customer and that extra peace of mind is worth it. I’d even run AmsOil OE oil if I was truly short on money these days, but for now, I think Extended Life is a very good middle ground when you want to keep your vehicle running smoothly but you don’t deem Signature Series super necessary. Unless you run in a very dirty environment, use ethanol-based fuel on a regular basis, do any sort of towing or competitive track racing, then this should be more than good enough for you!

I will continue to purchase this product.

Outstanding product I change oil at 10,000 miles not the 3,000 dealer oil change (so they can get in your wallet more often). I have 200,000 miles on my truck and 130,000 on my Toyota Hylander and they use about 3/4 qt of synthetic oil between oil changes. I use the highest rated Amsoil oil and air filters with every oil change.

I am on my second oil change with this product that replaced a factory synthetic blend. On initial start up there was a noticeable difference in how quiet engine noise was. Especially after several days not being started there was no “ticking” on start up with this product. Even after

I have been using AMSOIL XL 5w20 synthetic engine oil, in my 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7L HEMI, for three years. I have engine conditions from long idle times to full out performance with my performance modified truck. I change my oil & oil filter every 5,000 miles, even though I think this oil would work all the way up to double mileage. The oil still looks very good at that mileage interval. I highly recommend the AMSOIL XL series, it cost less than the top grade synthetic engine oil, works very well in todays modern engines.
