Kyle Chaney the Short-Course King

Kyle Chaney the Short-Course King

_by Lindsay Tousignant|September 29, 2023

Kyle Chaney is most known for his dominance in the desert. Chaney has used his precision in the rocks and speed in the flats to crush expectations and take the King of the Hammers UTV crown three times in a row.

We met up with the King last year in Hammertown and got a rundown of on his 4400 Pro UTV Hammer car. Check it out!

Short-course

Shortened, closed tracks give way to more carnage and destruction, requiring a different mindset from the open desert passes and rocky climbs encountered in the desert. Transitioning to the world of short-course racing puts you up against the likes of CJ Greaves and Rodney VanEperen who have mastered the tight turns, triples and tabletop landings. Chaney adjusted his driving style accordingly, finishing the 2022 AMSOIL Championship Off-Road season four points shy of first place. He knew a championship was within his grasp.

Entering the 2023 season looking to earn that top spot, the Can-Am* driver took podiums in Antigo, Crandon, Elk River, Dirt City, Bark River and Oklahoma. The races were heavily contested and often came down to the final laps. The points battle remained tight all season long, right up to the final two rounds.

After his wins in Crandon, Dirt City, and Bark River, Chaney took the season when the final round was rained out in Oklahoma. He amassed three wins and eight podiums on his journey to becoming the 2023 Pro Turbo SxS champion and cemented his dominance in short-course racing.

Chaney is currently preparing for the 2024 King of the Hammers in January. Last year Chaney competed in three desert events throughout the week, with a strong showing in the Hammers race and a win in the UTV race. The three-time king continues to push the limits and lap times, no matter where he lines up.

Now for the Amsoil plug:

Upper Cyl Lube – add 100K more to that block, heads, valves and max compression all the time..

“You need to buy Upper Cylinder Lube – YOU MUST buy Upper Cylinder Lube

Yes you must try this. I as the webmaster here in Sioux Falls have really been impressed myself. Our Ford Focus which should get at the MAX 32 Miles per gallon is seeing over 40 MPG!! I’m using it with the cheapest gas. (Non Ecoboost motor).. Of course I only use Signature Series for the motor oil so that helps. But a case of the upper cylinder lube isn’t expensive. A case of 12 then you use every other tank. If you want that car to be in exceptional performing shape beyond 7-8 years and beyond the typical 160,000 miles you NEED this!!

Is High-Mileage Motor Oil a Gimmick?

Is High-Mileage Motor Oil a Gimmick?

A purpose-built high-mileage motor oil can help improve the longevity and performance of high-mileage vehicles.

_by Keith Montgomery|October 25, 2023

In the last decade, the automotive lubricant industry has seen high mileage motor oils emerge and gain popularity for vehicles with more than 75,000 miles (120,000 km) on the odometer. These motor oils are advertised to combat the challenges that high-mileage engines face. But do they really work?

The truth is, high-mileage engines do have unique needs and could benefit from a motor oil designed specifically to address those challenges.

Challenges facing High Mileage Engines

Here are a few of the most common challenges facing engines with an unknown maintenance history or used typical quick lube oil sold from tanks:

  • Increased oil consumption
Oil consumption is common among non-Amsoil engines. Over time, they experience increased wear, leading to greater oil consumption. Using a suitable high-mileage motor oil that is thermally stable and resists volatility can help prevent oil consumption from occurring. (hint – there is only one)
  • Seal leakage
Engines with aging seals are more prone to oil leaks. An aging seal loses flexibility, hardens and no longer effectively serves its purpose. A well-designed high-mileage motor oil provides a boosted dose of seal conditioners to restore and recondition aging seals and help stop leaks.
  • Sludge and deposits
Over time, engines experience increased sludge and deposit buildup. This can be due to oil breakdown from high heat, low-quality oil, excessive idling or insufficient combustion of fuel. A quality high-mileage motor oil can provide enhanced detergency, removing deposit buildup to help restore peak performance.
  • Compression loss
Engines can lose compression as cylinders and piston rings wear, eventually leading to reduced horsepower and increased blow-by. A proper fluid film helps counteract compression loss by sealing combustion chambers to maintain performance. A purpose-built high-mileage motor oil is formulated to maintain viscosity and provide proper film thickness in extreme operating conditions.

High-mileage vehicles can still provide reliable performance.

The above challenges really do hinder vehicle performance. To protect your engine’s performance and help extend its longevity, it’s important to take steps that help counteract those issues. Our testing suggests that some companies are changing their labels to appeal to customers with high-mileage vehicles but not changing the oil inside the bottle.

Purpose-Built Protection for High Mileage Engines

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil is specifically designed for the unique demands of high-mileage engines, helping extend the life of your vehicle. It delivers purpose-built protection at a time in your vehicle’s life where it could benefit from more-robust maintenance – including boosted detergency and an additive package that fights oil breakdown and leaks.

This may sound too good to be true, so to prove it, we subjected it to independent testing. The result: AMSOIL 100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil reduced sludge by 67%,* demonstrating its cleaning power that helps engines last longer and perform better.

AMSOIL 100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil significantly reduces engine sludge.

Trust AMSOIL 100% Synthetic High-Mileage Motor Oil to help breathe new life into your high-mileage engine.

Would I need high mileage motor oil if I started with Amsoil in the first place?

The answer is NO.. All of these issues would not be something needed to be considered if you switched to AMSOIL Signature Series after initial engine break in..

This oil was created for customers who bought a vehicle which didn’t use AMSOIL all these years or who used the questionable oil offered in these “Free oil changes from the dealership” which have no quality standard in their oil what so ever.

As they are known to do, our friends at Team Hybrid showed up at SEMA 2023 in spectacular fashion. Eight Team Hybrid vehicles were on site covering a lot of real estate in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Not only did they bring their usual A-game on the vehicle front, but they were impossible to miss with placements inside South, in front of Central and in-between North/West halls.

Team Hybrid didn’t just show off their exquisite rides. BFGoodrich also called on Team Hybrid to be the first import team to help them debut their newest performance UHP tire in South Hall. New AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil Viscosities

A new 10W-60 and 0W-30 for several BMW, Volkswagen and other fancy European cars.

Two new European motor oils - synthetic 0W-30 and 10W-60

_by Brad Nelson|September 13, 2023

Those who know, know. The sophisticated engineering, finely-tuned performance and artistic styling of European cars can turn a daily commute into a grin-inducing experience. The design of these vehicles requires specialized motor oils to meet their specifications. AMSOIL is adding two new viscosities to the AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil line to do just that: AMSOIL 0W-30 Synthetic European Motor Oil and AMSOIL 10W-60 Synthetic European Motor Oil.

0W-30 Synthetic European Motor Oil – VW and BMW Owners Unite

Applications

Use AMSOIL 10W-60 Synthetic European Motor Oil in applications that require API SN or ACEA A3/B3; A3/B4, including the BMW M Series, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Maserati.

This viscosity is not available in Canada.

Drive with confidence

The new 0W-30 and 10W-60 viscosities add to a robust line of AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil that often exceeds strict European manufacturer specifications. Its shear-stable synthetic base oils and high-quality anti-wear additives provide outstanding protection in high-heat conditions for dependable performance throughout the long drain intervals recommended by European vehicle manufacturers.

Additionally, the excellent oxidation stability, heat resistance and detergency properties of AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil helps keep engines clean. It is designed to prevent sludge and varnish deposits, reduce oil consumption, extend engine life and provide maximum performance.

AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil provides outstanding protection for turbochargers by keeping them cool and resisting deposits. Impressive cold-flow properties protect turbochargers from oil starvation in subzero temperatures and ensure a rapid return to appropriate oil pressure at startup.

AMSOIL Synthetic European Motor Oil includes FS, MS and LS identification to help differentiate between full-SAPS, mid-SAPS and low-SAPS formulations. What does that mean? European vehicles feature gasoline and diesel engines with emissions systems that are highly sensitive to SAPS (sulfated ash, phosphorus and sulfur) content. SAPS are common oil additives that provide desirable performance properties, including detergency and protection against wear and oxidation. However, protecting sensitive emissions systems found in European vehicles requires different SAPS levels for different vehicles – it’s not a one-size-fits-all deal.

Top 5 Skid Steer Maintenance Tips

Top 5 Skid Steer Maintenance Tips

_by David Hilgendorf|September 29, 2023

Skid steers are built for tough construction, excavation, agricultural and other professional projects. Whether you’re clearing land, moving rocks or tearing down a wall, a skid steer is an excellent piece of equipment for many different jobs. But these nimble machines can be expensive to repair and replace if neglected. Good maintenance practices are important to keep your skid steers going strong.

A daily check before each job can keep you from getting sidelined. Here’s our quick checklist of the top five things you should check before hopping in your skid steer.

  1. Front End: Inspect attachments, such as the bucket, fork or brush-cutter to ensure they’re free from debris and not damaged. Be sure the arms are working properly and check to see that the pins and bushings are well-greased at all fittings. Inspect the hoses and tubes and make sure they’re secure and leak-free.
  2. Tires/Track: Depending on your setup, be sure to either check the tire pressure or adjust track tension as necessary. Skipping this step puts strain on these components, and they are expensive to replace when damaged.
  3. Safety Controls: Step into the cab and inspect the seat belt, panel display, backup alerts and horn. This helps keep you and the people around you safe on the job.
  4. Engine: Take a walk behind the machine and open the tailgate. Remove any debris and check to see that all components, such as the air filter and cooling system, are undamaged.
  5. Fluids: Engine oil, hydraulic oil and coolant levels should all be inspected. Making sure that all fluid levels are full helps keep your skid steer from suffering from accelerated wear or heat damage to help increase the performance and protection of your critical equipment.

AMSOIL has a full line of quality fluids designed to improve the performance and protection of your skid steer and other heavy-duty diesel equipment.
